The person behind the pages

Service begins with the people closest to us.

Christopher A. Smith is the founder and publisher behind Harvest Field Publishing. His Christian faith shapes how he understands family, leadership, work, and service. He wants what God has done in his life to bear fruit in his children, future generations, and the people he has been entrusted to serve.

As a husband and father, Christopher sees family as his first ministry. That conviction also runs through his writing for men: spiritual leadership begins with loving, guiding, and caring for the people at home.

His background brings together Christian ministry and chaplaincy, hospice and pastoral caregiving, teaching, mentoring, and operations leadership. Serving patients and families in hospice and healthcare has given him a close view of the people who care for others, often through difficult and deeply personal moments.

As an educator and the creator of Bible ESL, he connects practical English learning with relationships, Scripture, and opportunities to share the Gospel. Through Men of the Shepherd, he encourages men to grow in faith and take an active part in the spiritual life of their families.

These experiences give his books their context. He writes to make useful ideas understandable—to encourage the caregiver, equip the teacher, support the ministry worker, and help ordinary people put faith into practice.

Why Harvest Field Publishing exists

Practical resources. People worth serving.

Harvest Field Publishing is the publishing home for Christopher’s books and resources, bringing together work in faith, ministry, caregiving, and learning. Its Christian foundation is expressed through practical help, respect for people, integrity, and hope.

The aim is to create things people can actually use and sustain the work so it can continue serving others. Some resources teach Scripture directly. Others offer encouragement and care rooted in the same commitment to service.

“To serve those who serve others by enabling them to realize their full potential and make a meaningful impact for Jesus in this world.”
